When disaster strikes, most homeowners face two battles — the damage itself and the maze of insurance claims that follow. For Derrick J. Wilson, founder of Guardian Restoration Group of Georgia, that gap between crisis and clarity is exactly where his new company intends to stand guard.
Headquartered in Rockdale County, Guardian Restoration Group of Georgia is the newest name in full-service disaster recovery, specializing in water, fire, mold, smoke, and storm restoration. But what sets the company apart isn’t just its services — it’s the experience and empathy behind them.
Wilson’s story begins in Houston, Texas, where he built two successful ventures: Guardian Facility Management, a commercial janitorial firm, and Guardian Financial Services, a national tax preparation company that served clients from coast to coast. He later spent more than a decade as a licensed insurance adjuster, holding as many as 20 licenses across multiple states and maintaining 15 active today.
That background, Wilson says, gives him a rare perspective on the restoration process. “I’ve seen both sides — the homeowner trying to understand their policy, and the adjuster trying to make it all make sense. I wanted to build a company that bridges that gap.”
His resume is as wide as it is deep. Before launching Guardian, Wilson worked as a Business Development Manager at a Georgia-based restoration firm, where he honed his expertise in mitigation and client advocacy. He’s also the President of the Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce and President/CEO of the Greater Eastside Alliance Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to workforce development, economic growth, and business training.
True to his commitment to lifelong learning, Wilson recently earned his Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) certification through the IICRC — the industry’s global standard-bearer — and is already pursuing further designations in Applied Structural Drying (ASD), Commercial Drying, Fire and Smoke Restoration, and Odor Control.
Education, for Wilson, isn’t just personal; it’s part of his mission. Through the Greater Eastside Alliance, he serves as an approved education provider by the Georgia Department of Insurance, offering continuing education courses for licensed property insurance adjusters and property and casualty agents.
“Every homeowner deserves honesty, respect, and expertise when their world is turned upside down,” Wilson says. “Guardian was built to restore more than walls and floors — we restore peace of mind.”
Guardian Restoration Group of Georgia’s approach is simple but powerful: treat insurance as an asset, not an adversary. By partnering closely with both clients and carriers, the company aims to make the claims process more transparent, efficient, and fair for everyone involved.
From mitigation to full rebuilds, Wilson and his team are already gaining attention for their professionalism and purpose-driven work. “We don’t just fix homes,” he says. “We help people rebuild their lives — and we do it with integrity.”
As the company plants its roots across Georgia, Wilson hints that this is only the beginning. Expansion plans are already in motion for new locations across the country — each guided by the same principle that started it all: restoring trust in an industry built on recovery.
