With New Screening & Prevention Annex

Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett celebrated the grand opening of its new Screening & Prevention Annex (SPA) at the East Clinic (1175 Commercial Court, Norcross, GA) with a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony. The dedicated SPA space will streamline patient screenings, infectious-disease treatment, and childhood vaccinations in one convenient location.
This milestone underscores Good Samaritan’s mission to expand affordable healthcare for uninsured and underserved families across metro Atlanta. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2023 figures, 16.2% of Gwinnett County residents lack health insurance—well above the metro Atlanta average of 11.2%—leading many to delay care and face greater risk from preventable illnesses.
That risk is especially acute for respiratory diseases. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that viruses like COVID-19 cause millions of infections, thousands of hospitalizations, and numerous deaths each year nationwide. In Georgia alone, the Department of Public Health has recorded 138 flu-related fatalities since October 2024, and pertussis (whooping cough) cases have sextupled compared to last year, reaching 280 confirmed cases statewide.
“Vaccinations and early screenings are our first line of defense against these threats,” noted Shameka Allen, CEO of Good Samaritan Gwinnett. “This annex is our commitment to proactive, accessible care for every patient who walks through our doors.”
Greg Lang, CFO, added, “We’re deeply thankful for the support of our local leaders, healthcare partners, and community members. Their backing shows how vital strong health infrastructure is for our uninsured neighbors.”
Attendees toured the SPA facility—an expansion of the original annex launched at the Buford Highway clinic in 2021—and joined in celebrating the organization’s continued growth and impact.
