Find out why I started Good Morning Gwinnett. From the moment I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey in 1999, creating the first plus-size fashion dolls with Big Beautiful Dolls, I knew I was destined to make an impact. Running that company until 2005, I ventured into the world of business coaching and podcasting, where I discovered my passion for sharing knowledge and stories.
Podcasting since 2009, I found a powerful medium to connect with others. Living in the suburbs of New Jersey, I longed for the warmth of the South, where I was born in Albany, Georgia. The pull of my roots eventually led me to Georgia, where I sought a fresh start with HerTube TV, a venture that taught me valuable lessons from 2013 to 2018.
Despite its challenges, my entrepreneurial spirit remained unshaken. I felt a deep desire to immerse myself in my new community, to be more than just a resident. Politics seemed like a path, and for six months, I explored it, attending political group meetings. Yet, I realized that my heart lay elsewhere. While politics might be a calling in the future, my focus now is on nurturing Good Morning Gwinnett, turning it into a beacon of success and a pillar of the community.
The inspiration for Good Morning Gwinnett struck during one of my morning talks with my mom, as we watched Good Morning America. It was a lightbulb moment – why not create a platform that mirrored the vibrancy of our county? And so, I did. Good Morning Gwinnett was born, a podcast that quickly grew into a news site and a weekly newsletter, all dedicated to local news, business, technology, and lifestyle.
As I interview people and share stories, I feel like a voice in the community, a connector of people and ideas. My goal is clear: to elevate Good Morning Gwinnett into the number one media company in Gwinnett, not just in rankings, but in its role as a community partner. It’s about shining a spotlight on local businesses, inspiring with powerful stories, and introducing technology and strategies that drive growth. It’s about building a platform where the community comes together, where voices are heard, and where dreams take flight.
Beyond Good Morning Gwinnett
Beyond Good Morning Gwinnett, my passion for empowering and connecting people extends to my roles as the President of the Gwinnett Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the President of the GWC Foundation. In these capacities, I continue to champion the success and growth of our community.
As an author of 7 books, I channel my experiences and insights into written form, sharing my journey and lessons learned with a wider audience. When I’m not at the helm of Good Morning Gwinnett or leading the Chamber and Foundation, I’m immersed in the world of storytelling, ever committed to inspiring and uplifting those around me.
