Adding 70 New Jobs In Gwinnett County

In a significant boost to the local economy, Souto Foods, a Gwinnett County-based supplier known for its exquisite Latin American and Caribbean food products, has unveiled plans for a $28 million expansion. This strategic move is set to create 70 new jobs and marks a new chapter in the redevelopment of the former Cisco Corporate Campus.

Commitment to Gwinnett County’s Diverse Community

Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson expressed her enthusiasm for the expansion, highlighting it as a testament to the area’s thriving community and diverse economic landscape. “Gwinnett County prides itself on being a community where opportunity and diversity thrive,” Hendrickson stated, applauding Souto Foods’ decision to deepen its roots in the county.

Growth and Development

Since its inception in 2010, Souto Foods has shown remarkable growth. The acquisition by Alex Lee in 2017 propelled the company to new heights, further establishing its footprint in the local and national market. Kimberley George, Senior Vice President of Alex Lee, emphasized the significance of Gwinnett’s multicultural community as a key factor in their decision to expand. “Gwinnett’s multicultural community has long fueled the growth of Souto Foods and was a driver for remaining local with this expansion,” George noted.

Collaborative Efforts for Expansion

The expansion project was skillfully managed by Partnership Gwinnett Economic Development in collaboration with key stakeholders including the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Georgia Power, Gwinnett County Government, and McGuire Woods Consulting. This concerted effort underscores the cooperative spirit prevalent in Gwinnett County’s approach to economic development.

Praise from State Officials

The expansion has also garnered praise from state officials. Pat Wilson, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, lauded Georgia’s diverse industries and global connectivity. “Our partnership approach to economic development, along with a pro-business environment, world-renowned logistics, and a highly rated workforce are all key reasons companies like Souto Foods continue to grow and expand in Georgia,” Wilson remarked.

Deven Cason, Senior Director at Partnership Gwinnett Economic Development, shared his excitement about the project, noting the growth and opportunities it will introduce to the local workforce. “It’s been a joy and a privilege working with Souto Foods to continue their growth here in Gwinnett County,” said Cason.
