NORCROSS, GA – April 21, 2025 – Residents in Norcross have a new way to get around—and it’s as easy as opening an app. Ride Gwinnett’s microtransit service is bringing convenience to local travel, and tonight, curious community members can learn how to make the most of it at a special workshop hosted at the Norcross Branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library.

The Ride Gwinnett Microtransit Workshop kicks off tonight at 7:00 PM and is open to all residents eager to understand how this flexible, curb-to-curb service works. Attendees will get hands-on help with downloading the app, booking their first ride, and exploring the benefits of on-demand transit in their neighborhood.

What Is Microtransit?

Microtransit is Ride Gwinnett’s on-demand, shared-ride shuttle and van service that operates within designated zones in Norcross, Snellville, and Lawrenceville. Whether you’re commuting to work, heading to an appointment, or grabbing groceries, this service offers a reliable alternative to traditional fixed-route buses.

Each trip costs just $3 and must begin and end within the same microtransit zone. Riders can request a trip through the Ride Gwinnett app or by calling 770.246.4770 (option 3). Spanish language assistance is available.

How It Works

  1. Request Your Ride – Use the app or call to set your pickup and drop-off locations.
  2. Get Picked Up – Enjoy curb-to-curb service or head to a designated pick-up point.
  3. Pay Your Fare – Use the app, your Breeze Card, or exact change.
  4. Reach Your Destination – Rate your experience after arrival.

As a welcome incentive, first-time users can get 50% off their first ride using the promo code 50OFF.

Expanding Local Transit Options

While not intended to replace fixed bus routes, microtransit enhances local mobility by offering more personalized travel within each service zone. For longer trips, users can connect to Ride Gwinnett’s traditional routes such as 10A/B, 20, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 70.

The service operates Monday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and booking is available in real time or in advance for same-day rides.

What Residents Need to Know

  • Ride wait time: Riders receive a 10-minute pick-up window and real-time updates.
  • Missed rides: Drivers wait up to two minutes at the pickup spot before departing.
  • Accessibility: All drivers are background-checked Ride Gwinnett employees, and the fleet is equipped to accommodate mobility devices.
  • No smartphone? You can still call in to book and get updates by phone.
  • Service animals are welcome, but pets and non-service animals are not allowed.

Tonight’s workshop provides a chance for residents to ask questions, troubleshoot issues, and see just how easy it is to integrate microtransit into their daily outines.
