Gwinnett Transit SPLOST: Transforming Public Transit in Gwinnett County

If approved by voters, the Gwinnett Transit SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) could lead to funding up to 75 transit projects, enhancing connectivity across the county. These projects will make it easier for residents to access jobs, education, and services while improving the overall public transportation experience.

Key Projects Under the Transit SPLOST

  1. Microtransit Expansion
The expansion of flexible, app-based microtransit services will provide 100% access to jobs, educational institutions, and local businesses. Microtransit is a shared, on-demand service, with 27 zones planned across Gwinnett County. Explore the zones here.
  2. Direct Ride to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
A dedicated Airport Ride service will offer a convenient, limited-stop connection between Gwinnett County and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, with two proposed routes for seamless travel.
  3. High-Capacity Transit Options
The SPLOST includes high-capacity services such as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and BRT Lite, offering fast, frequent service on dedicated lanes. These projects will reduce travel times and improve access to key destinations like Gwinnett Place Mall, Sugarloaf Mills, and the Lawrenceville Transit Center.
  4. Enhanced Local Routes
Local bus routes will be enhanced with seven-day-a-week service, ensuring reliable transportation across 18 routes, connecting major hubs like Peachtree Corners, Suwanee Town Center, and Snellville Transit Transfer Station.
  5. New Transit Transfer Facilities
Improved connectivity between transit routes and modes will be supported by 19 new transit transfer facilities located strategically throughout Gwinnett County. Key locations include Lawrenceville, Peachtree Corners, and Mall of Georgia.
