Budget

On Tuesday, Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson unveiled her proposed $2.65 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year. The budget includes a $2.1 billion operating budget and $542 million for capital improvements, supported by the County’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).

Chairwoman Hendrickson highlighted the budget’s focus on addressing key challenges such as healthcare, affordable housing, and sustainability, stating, “Our budget focuses on many different areas to ensure we continue to offer our residents top-tier services. With this budget, we are taking steps to address priorities such as public safety, infrastructure, and economic opportunities.”

Key initiatives in the proposed budget include enhancements to E911 communications and the addition of community service aides to support the Police Department. The infrastructure budget outlines plans to improve transportation efficiency, expand water and sewer services, and implement the County’s Facility Asset Management Program.

The budget also places a strong emphasis on economic growth through the 2045 Unified Plan, which prioritizes redevelopment, small area studies, resident workforce development, and support for the County’s Equity Program.

Earlier this year, department heads and elected officials presented business plans for 2025 to the budget review committee. These presentations, which are available for public viewing at TVGwinnett.com, helped shape the budget proposal with input from three Gwinnett residents recruited by Hendrickson.

The proposed 2025 budget resolution is accessible online and at the Financial Services office in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, open weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Commissioners have scheduled a public hearing for December 3 in Conference Room C of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, and residents can provide feedback online through December 31. The final decision on the 2025 budget is expected at the commissioners’ first meeting of the new year on January 7.
