In her 2025 State of the County address, Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson announced a new initiative aimed at enhancing public safety while creating workforce development opportunities. The county is introducing a Community Service Aide (CSA) Program, a strategic effort to support the Gwinnett Police Department by hiring non-sworn personnel to handle non-emergency tasks.

“This is about making our community safer and smarter,” said Chairwoman Hendrickson during her address. “By introducing community service aides, we’re not only improving response times for urgent calls, but we’re also building a pathway for future law enforcement professionals.”
The CSA Program will launch in 2025, with hiring already underway. These aides will assist officers by managing duties such as:
- Traffic control and road closures
- Handling abandoned vehicles
- Assisting with missing person searches
By assigning these non-critical responsibilities to CSAs, Gwinnett Police officers will be able to focus their time and expertise on emergency calls and more complex incidents. The initiative also provides a valuable opportunity for individuals interested in a law enforcement career, giving them on-the-ground experience and a clear entry point into the field.
This move is part of Gwinnett County’s broader commitment to innovative public safety solutions and community-centered governance.
