By Good Morning Gwinnett Staff

This Veterans Day, Gwinnett County is going all out to honor the men and women who have courageously served our nation. On Tuesday, November 11, the County will host a full day of events — from a solemn ceremony to a resource fair and museum celebration — all dedicated to recognizing veterans and their families for their unwavering commitment and sacrifice.

🇺🇸 Veterans Day Ceremony: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

The day begins with Gwinnett County’s Annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Fallen Heroes Memorial, located behind the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville).

Residents are invited to gather as local officials, veterans, and community members come together to honor those who served. The ceremony will include remarks from county leaders, a keynote address by Sergeant Major Kerry Dyer, Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, and a Veterans March where all honorably discharged service members will be recognized.

Attendees can expect moving tributes, an honor guard presentation, and patriotic music — a fitting start to a day of remembrance and appreciation.

💙 Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson’s Gwinnett County Stand Down: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Immediately following the ceremony, Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson will host her annual Gwinnett County Stand Down event — a free, in-person community outreach initiative providing essential resources to veterans and their families.

Held at the same location, the Stand Down connects attendees with services including:

  • Health screenings and vaccinations (flu & COVID-19)
  • Housing resources and employment support
  • Free haircuts by Cuts Beyond the Basics
  • Pet resources from Gwinnett County Animal Welfare
  • Assistance from local agencies, nonprofits, and veteran organizations

The event’s partners include Aetna, Hire Heroes USA, Hope Atlanta, My Brother’s Keeper, the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, and many more community groups dedicated to veteran wellbeing.

“Chairwoman Hendrickson’s Stand Down exemplifies Gwinnett’s commitment to caring for those who’ve served,” said a County spokesperson. “This is more than an event — it’s a day of connection, compassion, and community.”

Both the Veterans Day Ceremony and Stand Down are free, open to all ages, and will take place rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, festivities will be moved inside the Justice and Administration Center.

🎖 Gwinnett Veterans Memorial Museum 20th Anniversary: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

The day concludes at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse (185 Crogan Street, Lawrenceville), where the Gwinnett Veterans Memorial Museum will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

This special evening event — featuring speakers, entertainment, and refreshments — is open to guests 21 and older and requires advance registration. It’s a chance to reflect on two decades of preserving local military history and honoring those who’ve worn the uniform.
