The Greater Eastside Alliance Inc. (GEA) is excited to announce a transformative new partnership with Grow with Google, offering Google Career Certificate scholarships to young adults ages 16 to 24 from low-income households throughout East Metro Atlanta.
This groundbreaking initiative opens doors to high-demand, high-paying careers by providing free access to online certification programs in today’s most in-demand fields, including Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, IT Support, Digital Marketing & E-Commerce, Project Management, and UX Design. These self-paced courses are designed for flexibility and can be completed in just 3 to 6 months—with no prior experience or degree required.
“Closing the digital divide starts with access,” said Derrick J. Wilson, President of the Greater Eastside Alliance. “This partnership gives our youth the tools they need to thrive in the modern workforce—without the burden of student debt.”
Since launching in 2018, the Google Career Certificate program has impacted over 500,000 learners globally, including 200,000 in the U.S.. Remarkably, 75% of graduates report career advancements such as a new job, raise, or promotion within six months of finishing the program. In the U.S., 35% of graduates came from households earning under $30,000, transitioning into jobs with median salaries of $76,000.
Graduates also benefit from access to a network of over 150 hiring partners, including major employers like Google, Walmart, and Verizon, all committed to considering certificate holders for entry-level roles.
This scholarship initiative is part of GEA’s Workforce Development Department, which focuses on removing barriers to education, employment, and economic mobility in historically underserved communities.
“Digital skills are no longer optional—they’re essential,” Wilson added. “With support from Google, we’re empowering the next generation of professionals right here in East Metro Atlanta.”
