Retail Expansion Takes Over Former Badcock Home Furniture Space at Village Shoppes at Creekside

Lawrenceville, GA – Burlington, the national off-price retailer, is set to open a new location in Lawrenceville at 860 Duluth Highway, according to a building permit application filed with Gwinnett County. The new store will replace the former Badcock Home Furniture &more at the Village Shoppes at Creekside, a prime retail center near Harbor Freight.

The 20,420-square-foot store marks Burlington’s continued expansion in metro Atlanta and beyond. The Village Shoppes at Creekside, built in 2006 and managed by 5Rivers CRE, is a bustling retail hub, making it an ideal location for the retailer.

Minimal Exterior Work, Major Economic Impact

According to the permit application, Burlington’s renovations will be minimal, focusing primarily on squaring off the existing parapet and updating the front facade with a fresh coat of paint.

However, while construction may be light, the economic impact could be significant. The opening of Burlington in Lawrenceville is expected to create dozens of new jobs for Gwinnettians, ranging from retail associates to management positions. Nationwide, Burlington stores typically employ between 30 to 50 workers, contributing to local job growth.

Burlington’s Growing Footprint in Georgia

Formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, the retailer underwent a rebrand to highlight its expanded inventory, which now includes apparel, accessories, home goods, and more. With over 1,000 stores nationwide, Burlington continues to expand its presence in Georgia.

In addition to Lawrenceville, a Brookhaven location at Northeast Plaza has also been proposed. Burlington has also taken over several former Bed Bath & Beyond locations across the state, further cementing its footprint in the region.

Boosting Lawrenceville’s Retail Landscape

The addition of Burlington strengthens Lawrenceville’s retail sector, drawing more shoppers and boosting foot traffic at Village Shoppes at Creekside. The new store is expected to contribute to Gwinnett County’s economic growth, generating sales tax revenue that supports local services and infrastructure.

With Lawrenceville continuing to grow as a retail and business hub, the arrival of Burlington is yet another sign of the city’s thriving economy.

Stay tuned for updates on the official opening date and hiring opportunities.
