The Growing Impact of Black-Owned Businesses in Georgia

Black-owned businesses are playing a critical role in Georgia’s economic landscape. According to recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Georgia ranks third in the nation for the number of Black-owned businesses. Metro Atlanta, including Gwinnett County, is home to a significant portion of these enterprises, with industries like real estate, healthcare, construction, and professional services experiencing consistent growth.

“Black entrepreneurs in Gwinnett are changing the game,” said a spokesperson for the Gwinnett County Black Chamber. “They’re not just opening doors for themselves—they’re uplifting families, inspiring future business leaders, and reinvesting in the community.”

The Chamber’s goal with the Black Business Awards is to shine a spotlight on this momentum—celebrating not only business excellence, but also community impact, innovation, and the power of ownership.

Why It Matters

As national conversations continue around racial equity and economic empowerment, events like the Black Business Awards serve as more than just celebrations—they are declarations of progress, community strength, and opportunity.

“When you support Black-owned businesses, you support job creation, you support cultural diversity, and you build stronger, more resilient local economies,” the Chamber added. “That’s what we’re celebrating on April 18.”

Join the Celebration

Whether you’re a business owner, community leader, or ally, the Black Business Awards is your chance to celebrate the bold, brilliant, and unstoppable Black entrepreneurs of Gwinnett County.
